In 1933, John H. Brown opened a single filling station in Monroe, Georgia to meet the needs of his growing community. Within three years, he moved the station to a more convenient location for residents in downtown Monroe. “I feel that I have the finest motor fuel and lubricants on the market today. I will still give the same good service on washing, greasing and tire repairing. Come see me!” exclaimed an advertisement in the Walton Tribune. By 1969, John H. Brown’s son, J. Harry Brown, Jr., established Brown Oil Company as a Mobil light oils and lubricants distributorship to expand and meet the needs of business customers as Walton and surround counties continued to grow. That relationship with Mobil grew for more than 40 years.

Today, Brown Oil Company has expanded to become a full-service supplier of fuels and lubricants for large corporations, mid-size and small businesses spanning numerous industries throughout northeast Georgia. Lead by founder John H. Brown’s great grandson Wesley Sisk since 2009, the company is now the area’s largest distributor of commercial fuels and DEF representing multiple high quality brands including Valero, Marathon, and Citgo. For four generations, Brown Oil Company has established a reputation of commitment to its customers with a focus on service and fast turnaround times.

What core values have been passed down through the generations?

Owner and general manager Wesley Sisk shares, “The importance is consistency. We have to consistently respect one another, listen, and lead every day. These are our core values. Growing up, I witnessed these values in action and they’ve become a part of who I am and what continues to drive our company today. We have to consistently demonstrate our values through our relationships within our team, and with our customers and partners.”
